Design concept was to create a Cold War feel according to the origins of 007 via Ian Fleming and World War II: Hence the slate-grey “Berlin Wall” coloring and texture. Within this, then, tall, clear cases form a barrier along the center to give the impression of an exhibition-back wristwatch. Look through to see the workings, layer historical impressions upon each other: In this photo, present-day James Bond actor Daniel Craig is reflected over the Ian Fleming watch case and dedicated area on the back wall. On loan from the Fleming family — just the second time they’ve agreed to do so; here, in support of the Bond Watches, James Bond Watches exhibit, National Watch & Clock Museum, Columbia, PA, June 18, 2010, through April 30, 2011. It was the watch worn by the 007 creator when he wrote On Her Majesty’s Secret Service in 1962. The only real-world watch on which he based his description of “James Bond’s Longines La Grande Classique Quartz - 37mm L4.766.4.11.9.” For the “Bond Enthusiasts Weekend,” September 10-11, 2010, it will be shown wound, set, and ticking.
